The CLP Angels are organising a pamper evening fundraiser on Friday 8th July at South Oxhey Labour Club from 7.00 pm - 10.00 pm. See Events/Streaming for more details.
We're really pleased to have received £39.025.00 from the Transition Fund. As everybody is aware, family learning has been badly affected by government cut-backs and this money will help us to discover new ways of continuing to support our lovely families and expanding group of community learning champion volunteers, aka CLP Angels.
We will use the funding to pay for expert advice to help us to create a variety of income streams, as well as using new technologies to promote all of our activities.

Family Learning Festival, 29th October 2010
The Centre, Gosforth Lane

Our second family learning festival is just around the corner at the end of half-term week, and we're organising it in partnership with the fab CLP Angels - our volunteer community learning champions.
A celebration of learning
The aim of the festival is to celebrate family learning, but also to try out new skills for free. Included are tasters in arts and crafts; singing; karate; street dance; ju jitsu; boxing and lots, lots more. Of course, CLP wouldn't be CLP without cake - so there will be hand-made cupcakes on sale and also a cake decorating competition. There'll be a marketplace where you can find out from different organisations what is going on locally, and who will support you. Enjoy fun activities, too ...bouncy castle; face painting; fire engine; police car and an RAF cadet parade.
Funders
This year, we have received funding from South Oxhey Extended Schools consortium and Watford Rural Parish Council. A big thank you to them for making our festival possible.
Hope to see lots of you there!

Now hear this! - (Hear it here)
We're always thinking about our communities and the way the prefer to gain access to news and information.
For this purpose, we have now integrated automatic conversion into audio of our blog posts. This is possible thanks to the lovely services of people such as Odiogo and ReadSpeaker. Odiogo can be integrated into all of your website sections for free, whilst ReadSpeaker can only be integrated for free on one section only.
This means that you can listen to us if you fancy taking a rest from your regular reading. You can also take us on the road on your iPods, your Zune players or your plain vanilla MP3 players. Just choose your preferred way here.
Hear and see these in action in our CLP Blog and in our CLP Angels Blog.
Hope you enjoy this. Let us know in the feedback/contact section.

CLP awarded £10,000 by NIACE (Hear it here)
Fantastic news :-) CLP has just been awarded a grant of £10,000.00 to interview 30 adults aged 25+ who are not currently in employment, education or training. 600 organisations applied for this grant, and only 200 were successful, so we're thrilled that our track record in family and community learning helped us to secure £10,000 for CLP.
We'll receive full details through the post in the next few days, so please watch this space because we'll need the help of our CLP Angels to help us recruit parents/carers in the South Oxhey area.
More to follow soon...
